Hope: December 9 & 10 at St. Agnes

What better way to ring in the holiday season than Benjamin Britten’s magnificent A Ceremony of Carols featuring arrangements of English carols, both old and new? The jubilant tone of the “Balulalow” movement would convince even Scrooge to get in the spirit of the season! Add to this experience a performance of Leonard Bernstein’s monumental Chichester Psalms, designed to combine Hebrew with the Christian choral tradition. The jazzy and contemporary feel of the work underscores its deep spirituality, a musical depiction of Bernstein’s hope for reconciliation and peace. Special guest artist Etta Cox will join the choir for other seasonal pieces for a memorable concert that will evoke warm holiday memories. Hot buttered rum, anyone?
